Nulo came to life when Michael, the founder of Nulo, ventured to Colorado on a road trip with his best furry friend Max. While in the car Michael couldn't help but think about the pet industry and the lack of quality care. He noticed majority of pet foods were lacking nutritional value and made with low-quality filler ingredients. He was determined to figure out a solution.

While doing research he came across the startling discovery that the majority of well known pet food brands had over 40% carb-based fillers and mostly plant protein instead of meat protein. This raised concern over what he was feeding Max and he knew there must be better solution. He and Max packed everything up and moved to Austin, Texas where Michael met with esteemed teams of vets and animal nutritionists to formulate. With Max and all other pets in mind,  Michael made a promise to never cut corners and always ensure that Nulo met the highest standard!

Inspired by her own dog's health transformation with raw food, Marie Moody began to embark on a journey to pursue pet nutrition and create her own company- Stella & Chewy's. Named after her two dogs, the company was started in her small kitchen in her New York apartment in 2003. Fast forward and their kitchen and facility space has grown immensely! They now operate out of Oak Creek, Wisconsin. As they have expanded they have still kept their integrity by ensuring the production of the highest quality natural pet food. Stella & Chewy's started out only producing raw diets but they have now expanded to freeze-dried, wet recipes and kibble. This allows them to meet the needs and budgets of all kinds of pet owner's!
